VeRdiKT
Yeah, I'm kinda back. It's sad to see no foreign film here and so, I'm kickstarting this section with a Romanian movie called 4 Luni, 3 Saptamâni Si 2 Zile (that's 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days for you guise). Hopefully, Alex28 shall not make any comments about how pathetic abortion is over here or how Romanians make movies based on Communism only. Trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5NwJzdPIJPA iMDB: [imdb]1032846[/imdb] Verdikt: AFAIK, I don't think I've ever seen Romanians make any good movies (or the fact that they do make movies is a lot more funnier [no offense- I havent heard of Romanian movies!]) I thought I'd pass watching this movie but 4 Luni, 3 Saptamâni Si 2 Zile is a movie well-awarded and a must-watch for people who love watching movies as art. The movie starts off with a very off-beat and dark tone. It's Communist Romania and the movie leaves you puzzled with long conversations (longer than what Inglourious Basterds had). However, it's clear to us that one girl (Gabita) wants to have an illegal abortion as Communism.. well, I don't need to go into the details. To do this, her friend (Otilia) tries to set up to secretly do the abortion and the movie shows us how the abortion takes place and the aftermath of the abortion on the girl and her friend. While the main theme is based on friendship and how much Otilia does for Gabita, we can see a lot of Romania during the Communist era. The movie may seem a drag, but the acting just keeps you hooked on to the movie. Mr Bebe (the abortionist) brings a devil's tone, dare I say, even though he seems friendly. The scene with the abortion and the focus on Otilia during the end was just brilliant and something which even I can't describe. However, the movie also has its weak points-- the scene with Otilia in her boyfriend's house could have been kept short. In the end of the day, this movie not only captures the viewer's mind but can also set an implication about abortion and friendship as the movie ends. My rating = 9/10.
