How do I handle these subs?

I have a 6 part UK series entitled Murder Island (2021)

The release is "1080p.HDTV.H264-DARKFLiX.mkv"

It is listed as having subtitles.  MediaInfo analyzes them as follows...

Neither VLCPlayer nor MediaPlayerClassic will play them.  Is there a way to extract the subs from the mkv file and convert them to .srt so they will play?

Thanks for the feedback.  MPC-HC is MediaPlayerClassic.  I tried that viewer:  under "subtitle track", I checked "enable", and selected the subs that were listed as "S: English [Eng] (dvdsub)".  Nothing displayed.

I'll look at Subtitle Edit but expect that's beyond my capabilities.

The subtitles contain errors in the text.

How did you get these or is that an addic7ed "trade secret"?

4. Start OCR  (We have to wait until the end of the process)
5. OK
6. Edit
7. Replace   Find what: 0 (zero) Replace with: o (letter o)  Replace all
8. File
9. Save

I'm downloading a video file with subtitles. But it can take a long time. Maybe a week or a month. It may never download.
