Time Limit To Team Locked Shows.

I'm sure it must have sounded like a good idea adding "Team Member Only Uploads" to certain shows to provide consistent quality.

The problem is this restricts the community, fosters egos, and causes problems when laziness or life interferes.

I propose that Addic7ed put a 24 hour after-broadcast time limit on 'Team Member Only' shows after which anyone can post for that episode.

This puts a ticking clock on Team Members to do what they promised to do and allows people that do have the subs to share with people that really need them.

Hi, that is not in plans. We put the team members lockdown to avoid quality issues.

Removing it, or lifting it after a certain delay will only lead to a decrease in quality.

Our goal is to provide good quality English subs.
Waiting a bit never killed anyone. Right?
You can always find other sites who provide them with other standards of quality. We don't force you to take ours.

ps: sure, we're lazy, doing them in our free time, for free ('cause yeah, guess what, it's not a job!), impeading on our social life, planning our days on the subtitles we have to do. Nice way to go CuF!

Hey, it's great what you guys do.  I've always tried to contribute when I can.  But this site started as an open community that rapidly shared for everyone's benefit and interactively corrected and translated subtitles.

Having teams is completely contrary to that.  You might as well just remove the upload and edit buttons all together from the site.  Either this is a site by and for the community, or it's just another subtitle site.  Worse because I've never seen another site actively block uploads to satisfy egos.

I've never feared the quality of non-team subtitles.  That's what the 'Edit' button is there for.  I do fear waiting a long time until someone with permission gets around to posting subtitles.  Then I just start looking elsewhere for subs.

Edit: To be clear, putting together subtitles can be hard work, especially doing it on a regular basis.  Your work is always appreciated.

But you cannot ask for sympathy about how hard it is if you don't let others help.

Hi, there's no competition among the upload of English subtitles (we leave that to the translation teams).

At the beginning, Addic7ed was just a host site, like many others now, where we uploadeded subtitles from other sources.

Now, it's much more than that, and we offer our own subtitles, with our own standards. We don't mingle with the translations, we focus on the English subtitles.

Only the team can upload those for the shows we provide, because of quality issues. We've had too many problems with users uploading bad quality subtites, then getting angry when they had to be removed.

We upload the English subtitles, and people wait ('cause it's oh so hard to wait) for the quality we are used of delivering. We won't let lamba people upload just any subtitle they found out there, which often looks like crap, and needs a ton of corrections. There are other platforms that are just that, host, and accept anything.
If you want to use subtitles that have to be edited hundreds of time, be my guest, but not on addic7ed.

If people wanna help, they can always come join us, and become syncers. But it's always easier bitching and complaining, that actully commiting to something :)

People who long for English quality subtitles know where to go, and we're not gonna change that because some users can't wait a bit.

For the impatient ones, there's always other sites out there. If you don't care about quality, that's your choice. But we do, and we don't force anyone to use our site.

You can talk about egos if you like, but we've created a good thing, and we're not gonna let people destroy that.
Addic7ed means something out there. And it's not "bad English subtitles", and we don't want that either.
Quality comes first, not speed. After all, that's what written in the title.

Quality subtitles.

Regards
