James... and somehow?

Off Topic: why, your treat, your time. I don't eat much anyway ^_^

On Topic: Nope. Not James whoever.

Hints:
- As many other actors of the time, he began his career as a Thespian, performing on and off-Broadway in a number of plays.
- Major silver screen actor in the late 1940's and 50's.
- TV Star in the late 70's and early 80's
- Tony nominated, Emmy winner.

Criminy... did I kill the thread?
============================
(In order to avoid multiple postings, I'm adding hints in this one)
- Although typecasted as a suave, smooth heartthrob since early in his career, he managed to portray a variety of characters during his ample span as a movie actor: bullfighter, pugilist, circus manager, as well as, according to a well-known group of movie critics, one of the most memorable villians ever conceived.
- You could think you haven't seen any of his films. But chances are you have if you are 15 or older. You may have rooted for him in his latest, circa 2003.

Arthur Leonard Rosenberg ? :)

P.S.
Don't worry about multiple posting, it is more easy to follow.

Ah! Tony Randall could have been a good guess, but no.
Right Continent, though.
Got to think south of Oklahoma

Here's another hint:
- If we were playing "Six degrees of separation from Kevin Bacon", this actor has a "Bacon number of 2":
Going in reverse, Kevin Bacon was in "Beyond All Boundaries" (2009) with Elijah Wood, who was in "Spy KIds 3D" (2003) with....

(And when did Tony Randall play a Villian????)

Where have you been up to now? :)

Nice clues.
I'm going back to more digging.

Well... he did appear in The Untouchables, yes. But not the one starring Kevin Costner. The one starring Robert Stack. And our actor appeared but once.

Sorry, I was busy.

Let's start.

Clue no.1

It is a very well known Emmy rewarded TV show, a commercial success and it had a major cultural impact.
But, to be a very good show, it needs some good characters.

One of those characters it is a true fighter for justice and at the same time, a fighter against the system (whatever system means).

Ah, good grief....
Is or was this a long-running, one-word-only-title programme?

It was a long-running, one-word-only-title show. :)

Hmm, whithout any reaction until today, I thought I'm talking about nothing in this thread, but now I'm relief. :)

Kramer.
s.

First and more important of all, I'm glad to "see" you again. :)

Yes, Cosmo Kramer is the answer.
:D

Clue no.1

It is a very well known Emmy rewarded TV show, a commercial success and it had a major cultural impact.
But, to be a very good show, it needs some good characters.

One of those characters it is a true fighter for justice and at the same time, a fighter against the system (whatever system means).

Cosmo Kramer, usually referred to as simply "Kramer", is a fictional character on the American television sitcom Seinfeld (1989–1998), played by Michael Richards.
The character is loosely based on comedian Kenny Kramer, Larry David's former neighbor across the hall.

Kramer is dedicated to fight injustice.
He defends himself against the cable companies, the post office, and a coffee-latte Retailer, a tobacco company, the O-Henry Candy bar Company, and more.

Clue no.2

His ideas and inventions were a great source of wonder to viewers.

Kramer showed an entrepreneurial bent with "Kramerica Industries," for which he devised plans for a pizza place where customers made their own pie, a bladder system for tankers that would "put an end to maritime oil spills", and a product that would put ketchup and mustard in the same bottle.

He also came up with the idea of a beach-scented cologne in "The Pez Dispenser", but a marketing executive for Calvin Klein informed him that the idea was ridiculous.
However, in "The Pick", it is revealed that Klein has produced a cologne called Ocean based on the same idea, leading Kramer to declare, "I could have been a millionaire! I could have been a fragrance millionaire!" When Kramer confronts him about this, his interaction with Calvin Klein lands him a photo shoot in connection with the cologne as an underwear model.

In "The Doorman", Kramer and Frank Costanza co-develop a prototype for a brassiere for men called the "bro" or the "mansiere".

Kramer also hatched a scheme to smuggle actual Cubans to the United States to make his beloved outlawed Cuban cigars, only to learn the "Cubans" are actually Dominicans.

Clue no.3

Obviously, this character is part of a group.
But it seems...,hmm..., more different than others.

Paradoxically, Kramer gets his friends directly into trouble by talking them into unwise or even illegal actions such as parking illegally in a handicapped space, urinating in a parking garage, committing mail fraud or even hiring an assassin to get rid of a dog.
Kramer is also known to mooch off of his friends, particularly Jerry.
Kramer regularly enters and uses Jerry's apartment without his consent or knowledge, and he often helps himself to Jerry's food.
Kramer is also known to use tools/appliances of Jerry's, only occasionally with permission, and sometimes returning them in a broken state.

Clue no.4

This character has been described as an extraordinary cross between [...] and [...]

"A tall, lanky doofus, with a bird-face and hair like the Bride of Frankenstein"
He also has been described as "an extraordinary cross between Eraserhead and Herman Munster"

Nice, isn't so? :D

Good evening, Doc, Alice and anyone else who's listening.

I forgot that there's a penalty for getting the right answer!
(The irony is that I watched about 2 episodes, at most, of Seinfeld, deeming it to be nothing more than banality shouted loudly. The bits with Kramer in were marginally more creative, but only for the two observed instances: more than that would have been merely repeated puerility.)

However, as is the custom of the game, I take the baton, and commence with a statement of some temporary rules for this instance:
1. questions are allowed and will be answered;
2. clues will also be given.

Clue No. 1:
Oh, brother, your OCD is showing - or is it just another fashion statement gone awry?

So, this apparently being a petit committee, I'm seizing the oportunity to answer a couple of questions:
How do I translate "happy flighting"? --- Still working on it, S. Also, still giggling with the whole series :) .
What border? --- The 49th parallel border, doc :D .

Now, as to the new riddle, I'm going to ask the very same question, spyderspyder...
Are we talking a character, and was he/she an integral part in a long-running, one-word-only-title programme?

The chickens are revolting!

Good morning.

"Are we talking a character, and was him/her integral part in a long-running, one-word-only-title programme?"
Sorry - I should have said. Yes, yes, and.... Yes.

(PS: 'How do I translate "happy flighting"? ' In what context, and into which language?)

Joyeux contretemps!
