You could be right, Doc.; but Honey Bunny joins in, and Alex...

Anyway, here's Clue number 2:

"As a boy, it was thought that he might "unite" the familty, in tradition..."

He played with Marlon Brando?
It's OK to ask more details in addition for clues, isn't so?

Hi.
Sorry - I'm not getting email notifications of post or anything; I'll have to check my settings.

No, he hasn't played with Brando, but with many others...

Now back to quiz:

He is still alive? smile.gif (hmmm, am I somehow one step ahead of the next clue? In that case i have to stop).

Yes, he's alive and kicking.

For today, a picture clue
(if I can make it work... It's taken me 20 minutes to get to here...)

Clue #3: Early Days

untitled.JPG

Wow!!! It worked!!!

There you go -
Pic 1. (Top Left - early movie, with Hayley Mills)
Pic 2. (Top Right - his first movie; he is the one standing. The other is also a famous Brit actor.)
Pic 3. (Bottom Left - he is marked X)
Pic 3. (Right - very posey, and for me, very recognisable)

It seems that,
- everyone is asleep, or
- no-one wants to know, or
- it's all just too difficult, or...

I expected honeybunny to have pounced on this, by now - especially after the pics; in a previous discussion she said that she is a fan of this chap.

To recap:
"A British actor... played a wide range of roles, including: a dodgy dealer, a pimp, royalty, a pirate..."
"As a boy, it was thought that he might "unite" the familty, in tradition..." (Hmmm... "UNITE"? "Father's footsteps"? Think...)
The pictures - I expected instant recognition. (With a bit of squinting and thinking.)

Clue #4:
For today - a sound clue. Yes, our subject also sings! (Sort of.) Clikken-zie: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/keithbr/sample.mp3

Cheers,

Well, I don't know who English Dan is, but that's not the answer.

Time for a little more help - two clues today:

Clue #5:
He got a Golden Globe for swearing - well, for a bit more than just being foul-mouthed.

Clue #6:
He also features in various "Chain Names", such as:
- "Seaman Inch",
- "Mica Hennas",
- "Sam Channie",
and, of course, in "Chain Names"...

Come on! It's staring you in the face!

Yes!!!

A British actor, with over 40 films and 20-plus TV shows, to his credit,
in which he has played a wide range of roles, including: a dodgy dealer, a pimp, royalty, a pirate...
("Lovejoy", Al Swearengen in "Deadwood", King Silas in "Kings", Capt. Hook in "Shrek 3", - and, soon, Blackbeard in "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides"... And many many more.)

As a boy, it was thought that he might "unite" the familty, in tradition...
(Ian showed early promise as a footballer, and might have followed in his father's footsteps - his father, Harry McShane, played for Manchester United.)

A picture clue - "Early Days".

A sound clue: our subject also sings - here's a sample.
(Album, "From Both Sides Now", released 2003.)

He got a Golden Globe for swearing - well, for a bit more than just being foul-mouthed.
(Al Swearengen,in "Deadwood".)

He also features in various "Chain Names", such as: "Seaman Inch", "Mica Hennas", "Sam Channie", and, of course, in "Chain Names"...
(All anagrams of "Ian McShane".)

That means that you win the grand prize - you hereby receive the priviledge of asking the next question! :P
