So, the answer was Battlestar Galactica, and specifically, Richard Hatch

In 1978 series of Battlestar Galactica, he performed as capt. "Apollo Adama". In 2004-2009 series of Battlestar Galactica, he performed as "Tom Zarek".

That is because even "hard core fans" knows better 2004-2009 seasons(that means 4 seasons). But Battlestar Galactica started with one season in 1978 and it had one more in 1980. Well, here it can be argued that the 2004-2009 series is still a remake. But count on counters . To be more precise, has been an attempt (unsuccessful) in 1999 to start a remake of the 1978 and 1980 series.
