Subtitle Edit - SMPTE 24 out of Sync

Recommended Posts

John F.

Hi,

Have been using Subtitle edit, great program,

just only the waveform is out of sync when I am working on some SMPTE 24fps/drop frame video.

Would be appreciated to know if any solution can fix it?

I don't think the waveform can be out of sync, as it's built from the used videofile. But hey: strange things an happen ;)

The subtitles can be out of sync of course.

You could consider to update your SE version or start the waveform again.

Hi Boris,

Thank you so much for the reply,

right, it's strange that the soundwave is out of sync when I select SMPTE timing(drop frame),

as you can see in the attachment, the time-cue in and out that I set by hearing don't match quite well with the waveform image,
I do wonder also why it is happening and if there is any solution.
Anyway, thank you for the effort for helping.

If you untick the box SMPTE I got the following wave, seems OK to me.

Yesterday I downloaded latest build of Subtitle Edit v3.3.7 and I am impressed by what Nikse has done. This application is by far superior to any other I've been using thus far.  Subrip and Subtitle Workshop included.  I'm particularly impressed with the OCR engine.  I had been watching the italian film, Me.and.You.2012.1080p.BluRay.x264.DTS-HDWinG and got tired of the subtitle format they included.  So I extracted the sup file with Mkvextractgui and loaded it into Subtitle Edit and literally watched it being recognized perfectly by the software. Just a few click to save names to the database and I was done!  No confusing I and L as often with Subrip and the spelling was also perfect.  If I get to rate this little gem I'll give it 10.

So thank you Nikse, We are lucky to have you here.
