Censorship

i watched a certain series which included subtitles. the subtitles included the website and the person who created the subtitles.

the reason i joined this forum was to pose this simple question:

why would someone feel they have the right to censor subtitles?

if swearing or blasphemy offend you, don't create the subtitles.

you do NOT have the right to impose your morals / religious beliefs on others.

The syncers/correctors do not censor the subtitles. These are already censored by the company doing the closed captions for TV. Go complain to them :)

oh, i see. i didn't know that.

i thought the person whose name appeared in the .srt file actually sat and watched the programme and wrote down the dialogue!

please excuse me for getting on my high horse but i really do get irritated when people try to impose themselves on others :)

Good thing it's not like that.. that sounds like a lot of work :-D

Yes, I've seen [bleep] and wonder/hoped that the captioners didn't overstep their boundaries/roles. Then turns out that's usually not the case (they didn't overstep their boundaries).

Examples: Breaking Bad episodes, when shown at certain hours - there's bound to be censorship due to hours it is being shown at.

Some translators,
change the dialogue,
I find this wrong,
I found the subtitle
with the dialogue completely changed,
so also changes the speech.

Let me tell you I'm sorry :-)

time ago I found the subtitles for the show
a sentence in the original speech recited
"dressed like that I feel my grandfather's ghost monster "
subtitle translation recited
"dressed like that, I feel like *******"
****** = Name of a comedian

Can not find it correct ....
I understand that the translations and subtitles are made by volunteers and are free,
but I can not find the correct change dialogue and the words ....

In some subs are there in the network, are also added personal comments / sometimes vulgar and distasteful) with some spoilers as if it were a bar LoL

I think the subtitles should always remain faithful to the original dialogue and has no personal initiatives out of context.
