Subtitle Edit (open source subtitle editor)

Nikse

Recommended Posts

Best subtitle editor program on the web. Simple as that.

Tons of formats supported, makes OCR really easy, can remove hearing impaired text, portable and it's open source.

Also, the best GUI I've seen of all the subtitle editors I've tried. Clean, simple and efficient.

And as a bonus, you are danish. Now that made me proud!

Keep up the fantastic work. Only features I can think of would be something like CCExtractor that can extract closed captions from iTunes .m4v files. That would keep my workflow down by using one less program!

Another feature would be if I was able to mass edit a bunch of subtitles files at once. Like, remove hearing impaired lines from a whole season of .srt files.

Hi Kosire!

I'm glad you like SE :)

The new "Tools -> Batch convert" do have some of the features you need, like "Remove text for HI".

About the .m4v files - what happens if you use File -> Open... in SE?

Woah, it worked! Nice!

It loads the subtitle in, and then a popup window with this:

hBxENUD.png

It loaded almost all the subtitles. CCExtractor extracted these subtitles at the end after the line "Huh?"

 1123
00:42:26,578 --> 00:42:28,611
Huh?

1124
00:42:28,613 --> 00:42:30,313
Jules?
- What?

1125
00:42:34,251 --> 00:42:36,019
- ? I know you know

1126
00:42:36,021 --> 00:42:38,087
? that I'm not telling
the truth ?

1127
00:42:38,089 --> 00:42:39,689
? I know you know

1128
00:42:39,691 --> 00:42:41,157
? they just don't have
any proof ?

1129
00:42:41,159 --> 00:42:42,892
? embrace the deception

1130
00:42:42,894 --> 00:42:44,327
? learn how to bend

1131
00:42:44,329 --> 00:42:45,962
? your worst inhibitions

1132
00:42:45,964 --> 00:42:48,331
? tend to psych you out
in the end ?

1133
00:42:48,333 --> 00:42:52,101
? I know you know

1134
00:42:52,103 --> 00:42:54,304
? I know you know

zgaqOdY.png

As you can see, Subtitle Edit didn't get the last lines and it doesn't seem to parse italic lines like CCExtractor does.

Hi punisherhadi!

SE uses VLC to extract the audio, so it's important that you have a recent version, like the current 2.1.1 - http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-windows.html

The temporary extracted large wave file extracted by VLC can get very... large. So it's best to have 10+ GB free on your C-drive (or wherever you temp folder is)! You can check the disk-space while the wave file is being extracted.

Last option: Use the VLC interface to extract the audio as a .wav file, then drag'n'drop this .wav file onto the waveform window in SE.

Hope it works for you :)

It Worked... thank you very very very much :D
i had VLC and the problem was the free space in my drive C ....
that problem had driven me insane and now that it's fixed i'm calm .

( and a little explain about my user name that i thought made you surprised because of that exclamation mark after it :D :D
i am not that rude like my name ... that name is because of when i was a kid i loved punisher game and choosed this user name , and since then i carry this name :D )

at the end i want to thank you again for helping me :):D  :D  :D  and a question .... did you really create this program ? because it's very good and useful and i suggest it to everyone for subtitle editing :)
